The moment in time

It is a moment in time.

It is that moment right before your life changes forever.

I remember feeling it the night before we got married.

I remember feeling it before each of our children were born.

I am on the brink of it once again.
We will meet our sweet son in the morning.

Our 6th child.

No, it never becomes old hat.

He is a new creation.

Created by our God in His image.

Created with a purpose.

Gifted to us.

The reality of the gift is heavy on me today.

I do not deserve it.

I am so grateful.

The tears just flow and flow as I feel him move around in my tummy.

Father,
Thank you for this blessing!  Please give me all that I need to be his Mommy.  Allow me to always be mindful of the privilege it is to raise him.  I ask that you would give me your eyes to see all my children.  Allow my words to be loving even when I am tired and weary.  You have carried me this far and I know that you will strengthen me as I meet their needs.  Thank you Lord.  Thank you for this sacred time.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

38 Weeks

Another week has come and gone.

The to-do list is dwindling down.

Just a few more things to accomplish before he arrives.

We have had a 9 year relationship with our OB, Dr. K.  He is amazing and I am so grateful that he will be doing my C-section.  I have been blessed to have him there for all of our biological births.  He has a wonderful sense of humor.  He and EJ love to joke around during our appointments.

Today, EJ had an idea...

EJ to Dr. K: "So, what do you say I scrub in and help deliver this baby?"

Dr. K to EJ: "Hmmm...well, that would be unprecedented."

Me to both of them: "NO.  NO.  That is not happening."

When I texted my family to give them the "Baby E update" I passed along this picture and information...
"EJ asked Dr. K if he could scrub in and help with the C-section.  You know, help pull the baby out.  I told them both I would kill them dead.  If anyone sees EJ trying to sneak into the doc's scrub room, hit him...hard."

The responses:
"No."
"I am prepared to take him down."
"Oh the horror."
"I have full confidence that even with an epidural you can handle the situation."

We laughed our heads off reading their responses at lunch.

Her favorite chore

Everything in Lil' Ruthie's life must be pink.

She just loves pink.

Her very favorite chore is refilling the dishwasher pod.

I have both a blue and a pink package.

She says, "not this one...PINK."

She just loves it when it is her time to shine.

"Put soap in!" she says.

Victory!

 Well done, sister!

Just a little emotional

I seem to be VERY teary lately.

I never really know what is going to set off the bucket of tears.

I was doing school with the boys last week.

We were reading about Abraham Lincoln's life as a child.

I didn't realize that Lincoln's mother had passed away when he was a boy.

Just that fact alone was almost more than I could bear.

Then I read about how his father remarried and his step mother was very good to him.

She was quoted as saying, "Abe never gave me a cross word or look.  He never refused to do anything I asked him.  Abe was the best boy I ever saw!"

And I lost it.

Not just a sniffle or a lump in the throat.

I started to boo hoo.

The boys just looked at me.

"I'm sorry fellas." I said.

When I collected myself I said, "Remember I told you that sometimes when a Mommy has a baby in her tummy she cries easily?"

"Yes, we remember." they said.

Then we went on with our reading.

I am looking forward to getting back to my normal hormone levels!

The Gang!

Lil' Ruthie is still getting used to this snow thing.

She is brave and she knows she doesn't want to miss out on the fun.

After all, she has a lot of big brothers to show her the way.

"Taste the snow, Sissy."

"Sissy, hold my hand.  I'll help you walk."

"You want to swing, Sissy?"

Daddy came home and got to join in on the fun.

Baby E was accounted for too!

Baby D was happy to stay where it was nice and warm.

We ended the day with a cozy fire.

37 weeks

Baby E continues to make his presence known.  This baby belly is large and in charge.  I know a lot of women hate this last trimester of pregnancy but I never feel more beautiful.  Don't get me wrong, there are aches and pains and some pretty major inconveniences but overall I love it.

I am beginning to make a real dent in my to do list.  This type A momma likes to mark things off her list!  I finished my Daily Schedules and got them posted on the fridge.  As I started to tape them on I told EJ I should have laminated them.  He reminded me that he bought me a laminator and it was in the basement.  Next thing I knew we had laminated lists on the fridge.  Oh the joy!  EJ and I high fived in the kitchen.  He totally understands my desire to be organized.

The daily schedules will help the grandparents to keep the day moving for our 5 older blessings while I heal from a C-section and bond with the newest baby brother.  I also made a list of daily chores to accomplish so that the house can stay in order.  In my post partum state of mind I won't be able to think about what needs to be done next.  Let alone verbalize it.  There is also a list on the side of the fridge of the 15 freezer meals I have prepared.
