My Sisters

These are my sisters.

They share so many things with me.

It's not JUST because we are family.

We are also sisters in Christ.

We are wives.

We are mothers.

We are women with dreams and goals.

We are silly.

We are strong.

We are tender.

We are passionate.

We are best friends.

When Rock Star got so sick that she had to be admitted to the ICU, my whole world came to a stop.  All the little things around me just didn't matter anymore.

My sister was sick.

Her children were without her.

Her baby was without his Momma and his milk.

She was in pain physically but even more than that emotionally.

She was like a Momma Bear whose Cub had been taken from her.

There are so many things to tell but I will let you read them in her words.

Pop and Grammy literally moved in to take care of everyone.

From this sisters perspective it was terrifying.

Honestly, it is every moms worst nightmare to be unable to care for her children.

When Rock Star came home her heart was so full and happy but her body was exhausted.

She was so weak that blow drying her hair was out of the question.

I was over there one night and she asked if I would do it for her.

It was my privilege.

This time I got to serve.

That is the beauty of these precious women in my life.

When it is my turn to need them.

They will step in.

They will serve.

They will take over.

They will love.

They are my sisters.

I am so blessed.

W's Update

We took W to see the neurologist.  He performed an EEG to see if there was any seizure activity in W's brain.

In order to prepare for this test they asked us to keep him up until midnight the night before and then wake him up at 5am.  Then they didn't want him to take a nap before his 1:30pm appointment.  He needed to be sleep deprived for the test so he would fall asleep.  We were also instructed not to let him eat for four hours before the test in case they needed to sedate him.  (Thankfully, they didn't have to)

So, we took an exhausted and hungry 5 year old and headed to the neurologists office.  W fell asleep before they even finished putting all the electrodes on his head!  He slept soundly through the test.

We quickly ate something between his test and the appointment with the doctor.  Our appointment was scheduled at 3pm.  We waited in the room for an hour and fifteen minutes.  1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES.  That is ridiculous.  Thankfully they had legos and W was feeling better after a nap and some lunch.

When the Dr. came in, he reviewed the CT scan from our ER visit as well as the EEG that was just performed.  He asked us several questions about W's history.  He wanted to know what happened before, during and after the seizure.

In the end, he found no seizure activity in the EEG and no abnormalities in the CT scan.

He felt that the sleep deprivation leading up to the seizure could have played a role. (We had just arrived home from our big 'ol RV trip the night before the seizure).

He suggested that we make sure W gets enough sleep and limit his caffeine intake.  He also suggested that we limit flashy video games.

The only one we need to worry about is the sleep.  We don't have a video game system and we certainly don't give our kids caffeine.  (Momma needs the caffeine, not them)

I find it strange that sleep deprivation can induce a seizure.  After all, wouldn't every mother with a newborn baby be having regular seizures?  I'm just saying.

We are so thankful that the Dr. feels another seizure isn't likely.  He told us we don't need to follow up with him unless another seizure occurs.

We are praising God for the good report and asking for him to show us if there is anything else we need to do.

Random Pregnancy Thoughts

So...

I was pregnant when the wreck happened.  Scary!

I was pregnant when the stomach bug hit.  Nasty!

Oh my stars.

As though pregnancy isn't hard enough.

When I find out I'm pregnant I switch to decaf coffee for a day or two.  Then I just cut it out completely.  It doesn't sound good anymore.  The idea of it sounds wonderful but the taste doesn't.  That must be God's way of helping me kick my favorite habit.

Most of you know that our road to parenthood hasn't been easy.

Most recently, in March, we lost the twins I was carrying.

Being pregnant again has been a very emotional experience.  I'm sure I will write more about that later.

We breathed a huge sigh of relief yesterday when we watched our little baby move around and got to hear that strong heartbeat.

Invite us to your lake house...

if you are lucky we will bring a nasty stomach virus.

Some friends of ours invited us to join them and another family for a fun filled weekend.

It was a fun filled until Saturday night when the nasty began.

They wanted us to leave a note in their guest book before we left.  This is what we said...

"We came, we saw, we played, we puked, we pooped."

That lake house may never be the same.

EJ and I got the virus upon our return home and are still recovering today.

NASTY.

P.S.  Big thanks to the Grammy and Grandma for taking turns caring for us today.  What a blessing!

(Also, I want to cry when I think about the kindness the women at the lake house showed us.  They stepped right in cleaning up messes no one wants to clean up.  I am SO thankful.)
