First stop, Manitou Springs. I was concerned about using our double stroller for this day. It is a tiny mountain town and our big double stroller would have made it difficult to navigate around the shops, etc. Our fantastic VRBO (rental home) had a stroller and back pack carrier for us to use. This worked out perfectly! Another awesome benefit of staying in their home.
We walked around the town a bit and then made our way to the Penny Arcade. This place was awesome! There were SO many rides and games to play. The kids were thrilled.
Mom and Dad had to get in on the fun too!
Like Mother...
Like Daughter...
This little stinker kept sneaking away. Every time he made a run for it, he headed to this ice cream truck.
It was a fantastic morning!
We ate a delicious lunch in Manitou Springs and then it was time to head off to our next destination.
The Ghost Town Museum
(This is a coffee grinder)
(That is a good lookin' bunch at that saloon bar!)
The boys had been looking forward to this for a long time. Panning for Gold! Both the older boys found little slivers of gold. They could have stayed there all day looking for more.
The youngest three fell asleep in the van on the way to our next stop. The Olympic Training Facility. I stayed in the car to let them nap and the older three went in for a tour with their Daddy.
Last stop of the day...good 'ol fashioned playground fun! This playground is called America the Beautiful. It is a unique playground and the kids loved it. I read that it is in an "urban" area. There were a handful of homeless folks at the shelter area.
Tonight's Menu: Leftovers (I don't want to bring food home)
Tonight we got the opportunity to meet the folks who own our rental home. They are a fellow homeschooling family. They are also in the process of adopting from China. We had a great time visiting with them for a few minutes.
